City of Wainwright
The City of Wainwright retains the powers and responsibilities for Municipal Administration, Recreation, Boat Harbors and Cemeteries. Under these powers, the City provides municipal administration as a second class city under Title 29, has operated a grant funded Youth Program and summer Youth Cultural Camp since 2007, operates Homemaker Services for Elders funded by a North Slope Borough grant, provides a City park for community recreation, provides community cultural and recreational events for the City such as the July 4 and Christmas Games, Piuraagiaqta (Spring Whaling Festival), and recently began operating Gaming/Pull tabs.
